Thrift Shop Berlin: my favorite spots

Humana

Starting with the best thrift stores Berlin obvious, Humana consists of several stores across Germany and is among the best vintage shops Berlin has, as well as the most reasonable prices. They offer high-quality second hand and vintage items (some household items too) at low prices and are well known for promoting sustainability and encouraging their customers to do the same. On their website, you can even find sustainability reports that demonstrate how supporting their cause helps the environment and the positive impact of second-hand purchases. Humana Secondhand is the only charity on this list, so more good reasons to shop here! Also one of largest second-hand shops in town.

Fun fact: Scenes from Netflix’s ‘Queen’s Gambit’ were shot at Humana Frankfurter Tor, depicting it as an American department store from the 1950s.

‘Boxi’ Weekend Market

Thrift Shop Berlin: Where to Find Gems - Mostly Amélie (2)

The Boxi weekend market is a Flea Market at Boxhagener Platz every Sunday. This simple yet awesome market is one of the many hidden gems for vintage shopping in Berlin. While it may not be a physical store, Boxi offers everything from clothing to quaint antiques and figurines. Not to mention that it’s in the middle of the Simon-Dach district, with plenty of surrounding shops and cafes, it’s the perfect location for a Sunday outing. My place of choice for good condition Levi’s at great prices.

Repeater

A slightly claustrophobic treasure chest of silk tops, sports jackets, Converse and hipster bags, Repeater is one of the best spots for unique vintage finds in Berlin. There are lots of known brands like Adidas, Champion and Vans. The staff is super friendly and the prices very reasonable. Definitely a must on your thrift shop itinerary while in Berlin!

Soul & Style

The name ‘Soul and Style’ is catchy and also tells you a lot about the ethos and services offered by this particular thrift store in Berlin. Not only is Soul and Style a very popular vintage store Berlin spot, as well as further afield thanks to their Etsy store, but they are also a yoga studio. As they describe it in their Etsy bio, ‘Vintage and yoga, a balance between inner and outer life.’ Whether you’re looking for some vintage gear or a new spot to satisfy your yoga needs, you can visit Soul and Style also in Friedrichshain.

Lena’s Lovely Vintage

Lena’s Lovely Vintage is an incredible second-hand store that offers some of the finest women’s vintage clothing in Berlin. This boutique sells selected vintage clothing from the 1950s to the 1990s. As you can imagine, there is a vast range of apparel and items to be found here and exploring it is quite the experience! Ranging from eye-catching gowns from the 1950s to vintage sportswear any hipster would be proud to don, big-name brands to brands that no longer exist — Lena’s Lovely Vintage Berlin is undoubtedly something not to be missed.

RAW Weekend Market

Initially founded in 1897, this former train repair station close to the East Side Mall (now derelict buildings) has been adopted and transformed by Berlin’s creative community since the late 1990s. Now, Reichsbahn-Ausbesserungs-Werk or ‘RAW’, as it is now known, is home to clubs, bars, a skate park, a swimming pool club, a bunker-turned-climbing-wall and a Sunday flea market. Whether you’re a creative looking for a new environment to explore with like-minded individuals or a bargain-hunter looking for the best vintage gear in Berlin, RAW is well worth checking out.

Vintage Revivals

Vintage Revivals is a contemporary second-hand brand and a thrift shop in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, Manheim and Hamburg. They offer a wide range of men’s and women’s designer pieces from past decades, with the goal of not only giving new life to old clothes but also being responsible for creating new trends. It’s safe to say they’re not your average vintage store Berlin spot! Vintage Revivals have physical stores and an excellent online shop, so whichever method of shopping you prefer, VR caters to everyone.

Soeur

Located in Prenzlauer Berg, Soeur is one of the smaller second-hand shops in Berlin, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in vast appeal and a unique charm that makes each visit memorable. They maintain an Instagram and Tumblr account to keep their customers updated on the latest vintage gems, both of which are well worth checking out. Their items include clothing from a range of decades, bags, accessories, and also one-off designer pieces that you’d struggle to find elsewhere. I gem amongst thrift stores Berlin options.

Trash Schick

As they describe it, Trash Schick is a second hand and vintage store in Berlin ‘for eco-sensitive individualists with a personal style’. They source and sell a massive range of vintage clothing with keen attention to unique styles and a motivation to ensure high quality. From designer vintage gear to unique trinkets to dazzling accessories — Trash Schick is a Berlin thrift store treasure chest for vintage enthusiasts and anyone else who appreciates something a little bit different.

Mauerpark Weekend Market

As you can probably gather by now, Berlin folks love their markets and their , and for good reason! Berlin markets are not only fantastic for the community and offer a space for independent sellers to do business, but they’re also a treasure trove for vintage lovers. The best aspect of weekend markets in Berlin is that you quite literally never know what to expect.

The items for sale consist of whatever the sellers happen to have for sale at that time, meaning you can easily discover designer one-offs, long lost vintage pieces or simply some clothing and other items that perfectly suit your style. Whether you’re on the lookout for vintage fashion, small appliances, small furniture, trinkets, fashion accessories, or anything else — a visit to the market can give you what you need!

The Good Store

The Good Store is a thrift shop in Berlin that strives to sell high-quality, contemporary apparel and look beyond that and give it a richer purpose. With a progressive, modern approach to fashion, their pieces are carefully selected and sold in their minimalistic store. Therefore putting less focus on the store and more emphasis on the items for sale. The owners want you to love the items you purchase and consider your role as an owner who will pass items on to the next owners — to prolong the life of vintage clothing, artisanal jewellery and selected homeware for as long as possible.

Garments Vintage

Garments Vintage is a special one for sure. It’s not your everyday vintage store in Berlin. It even has a hidden back garden filled with flowers, and clothing isn’t just organised by colours and styles — they also consider your mood! It’s exclusively for womenswear and features some incredible specialities, including costumes, novelty items, and dresses for special occasions. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but regardless, it’s an experience for sure — and a new experience is always worth your time!

Paul’s Boutique

Paul’s Boutique is what most people would picture when they hear ‘thrift shop’. It’s a small space that houses a vast range of items, and when I say huge, I’m not exaggerating. So much so that the owners advise customers to put some time aside so that they can thoroughly explore everything they have to offer. Vintage clothing, shoes, toys, collectibles, vinyl records and the list goes on! It’s also worth noting that Paul’s Boutique is one of four thrift shops in Berlin that the owners operate, the others being Goo, Repeater and Torstrasse. The information for all of their stores can be found on the Paul’s Boutique website.

allet schick

A lovely vintage store in the Berlin area of Kreuzberg with a small but great selection of dresses, purses, and other nice stuff. The shop is located in the lovely Bergmannkiez which is a great place and worth a detour all on its own. A super cute intimate consignment store worth visiting for a limited selection of well-curated nice items!

There you have my thrift shops Berlin guide! A list of what are, in my humble opinion, the best vintage shops in Berlin. The list above offers an insane amount of variety! However, I have no doubt that I’m yet to discover some other little gems out there.

So, which thrift shops in Berlin did I miss?
