Hi Tops Hoops Las Vegas Hoopsteria takes place July 25th – 28th. This National event is a four game guarantee featuring teams from all around the country. Here’s a look at some of the top young players from weekend action.
Walter Townsend
HEIGHT 5'10"
POS PG
CLASS 2028
State: Nevada
School: Legacy
Something I learned about Townsend this week is that he’s uber competitive. The PG orchestrated the offense, finding teammates for open buckets, when he wasn’t picking his spots for shots. His leadership is tangible as he has a Pied Piper effect, gathering his troops together to keep them focused on a common goal.
Jayden Hull
HEIGHT 5'11"
POS SG
CLASS 2028
State: Nevada
School: Shadow Ridge
Hull is a good looking young player that I’m glad I got to see before the upcoming rankings. He showed that he can shoot the ball, knocking down multiple threes. What made him intriguing was his handle, as the wing displayed some shiftiness and quickness when attacking the cup.
Highlights
Trey Tolbert
HEIGHT 6'4"
POS C
CLASS 2027
State: Nevada
School: Canyon Springs
Got a look at the rising sophom*ore. Tolbert has decent offensive skill, however on this day what was most impressive was his ability to rebound the ball. The lefty was strong around the tin, fighting off multiple opponents to rip down boards.
Highlights
Wes Walker
HEIGHT 6'3"
POS PF
CLASS 2029
State: Nevada
School: Undecided
Walker is a fresh face that I was happy to see. He’s a fluid rim runner with good size. He managed to impact the game with his strength, length and interior presence.
Logan Holzworth
HEIGHT 5'11"
POS CG
CLASS 2028
State: Nevada
School: Arbor View
Glad to get a chance to lay eyes on the future Arbor guard, Holzworth has some pure PG ability mixed with Floor Generalship. He’s got a solid handle which allowed him to navigate pressure as well as get to his spot on the floor. He showed good basketball IQ, while he was facilitating using his dribbling, passing and shooting ability all at the appropriate time.
