Severe Weather Alert Day: High winds, storms threaten
MURRYSVILLE, ARASH PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR. STRONG THUNDERSTORMS JUST GETTING SET TO MOVE INTO THE AREA. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE CLOUDS OVER PITTSBURGH AND A CURRENT TEMPERATURE OF 77 DEGREES BEFORE THE CLOUDS AND THE RAIN IN THE AREA. HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 85 DEGREES. AND OUR DEW POINT NEAR 70 DEGREES. AS WE HAVE A LOT OF MOISTURE IN THE AIR RIGHT NOW AND A LOT MORE, WE SEE THOSE STORMS MOVE INTO THE REGION. 81 RIGHT NOW, GREENSBURG, AS WELL AS UNIONTOWN, 83, IN MORGANTOWN, WHERE THEY SAW MORE SUNSHINE, WHERE WE’VE ALREADY HAD RAIN. IT’S IN THE 60S, AND DUBOIS CLARION FRANKLIN AS WELL AS NEW CASTLE. HERE IS THAT RAIN ON THE WAY INTO TOWN AND YOU CAN SEE UP NORTH. THEY’VE HAD IT PRETTY MUCH FOR THE LAST SEVERAL HOURS. AND YOU CAN SEE EARLIER TODAY WE HAD THOSE STORMS THAT MOVED THROUGH, AND NOW HAVE QUICKLY MOVED OFF TOWARDS THE WILLIAMSPORT AREA. NOW THIS IS WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT. WE’RE GOING TO SEE STORMS UP UNTIL ABOUT 10:00 EAST OF PITTSBURGH. STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOVING THROUGH HEAVY DOWNPOURS, POSSIBLY SOME FLASH FLOODING. HIGH WIND GUSTS COULD HAVE SOME DAMAGING WINDS OUT THERE. ALREADY HAD A WIND GUST OF 66MPH IN DUBOIS, WITH THOSE STORMS MOVING THROUGH AND WE COULD SEE SOME HAIL AND CAN’T RULE OUT A TORNADO. HERE THEY ARE MOVING THROUGH ABOUT 8:00 TONIGHT. ONCE IT GETS THROUGH HERE, WON’T TAKE LONG FOR THEM TO MOVE THROUGH AND ON OUT BY THURSDAY WE’LL HAVE SOME FOG IN THE MORNING THAT WILL BURN OFF AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY, AND IT WILL BECOME PARTLY CLOUDY TO MOSTLY SUNNY SECOND HALF OF THURSDAY, AND THEN JUST MOSTLY SUNNY AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY ON FRIDAY. A tornado cannot be ruled out, but it is the lowest threat level. The severe weather threat will diminish as the sun sets. The Laurel Highlands could have potential for heavy rain through 10 p.m. After the storms, fog will form overnight.
